We have added a new Popup Flash Player for our podcasts. It is ideal if you are not allowed to download MP3s due to filtering. Or to listen to our latest reports on a computer other than your own that lacks a podcatcher or audio player. Many more additions on the way! Filed under: News Comments: None |

We have re-added the papers and presentations section to the new site. Most of what has been re-added are older papers and presentations. Mainly because of all the numerous email requests for access to them. You can find a link to then next to the “Main Menu”. Or go directly to the page HERE. Filed under: News Comments: None |

I have been testing out Coral recently which is a distributed “peer-to-peer content distribution network”. By adding an extension (.nyud.net:8090) to your site it will cach it in servers located near you. So if your site/content is cached all over the world it is more accessable in the event of a Slashdotting or similar traffic surge. You can access the L.A.S. Coral version here: (Both links point to the same place. . .) As a “fun fact” if you look at the Coral stats page you will see that over a 24 hour period they transmit roughly 1700GBs of data. Which comes out to about 1.6TBs. In conjunction with using the WordPress Staticize Reloaded plug-in you can make an already effiicient engine even faster by not causing a high load on your database server. In the past this was the weak link during the Slashdot Effect. Filed under: News Comments: None |

I am happy to announce that due to the endless stream of emails I have gotten since back when I removed the old L.A.S. fourms. That I decided to give the people what they want! So have a look at the new forums and feel free to register. We are looking to get more moderators and suggestions on catagories and forum topics. {{{{{ Local Area Security Forums }}}}} Filed under: News Comments: None |
